Mass Effect 3 Resurgence pack deploying

A free multiplayer expansion for Mass Effect 3 is now live on Xbox 360 and expected for PC and PS3 users either today or tomorrow.

Titled Resurgence, the new pack contains a fairly hefty chunk of add-on content that includes two maps, six characters and three weapons.

Players will now be able to squash enemies with the Asari Justicar Adept, Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer and Geth Sentinel classes. With these new forces you can now fight over Firebase Condor, a warzone outpost on one of Palaven’s moons, and Firebase Hydra, an abandoned quarian colony turned power facility.

The trailer above also showcases the new multiplayer exclusive weapons: the slow but steady Striker Assault Rifle, scary bolt chucking Kishock Harpoon Gun and the green pulse blazing Geth Plasma SMG. Not shown in the trailer are several new equipment consumables that can apply a bonus for one mission. The four bits of kit each influence different aspects. They can boost melee strength, increase headshot damage, stabilise weapons or decrease shield regeneration delay.

All new characters and kit will be distributed through the reinforcement packs you can buy in the multiplayer store, but don’t start blowing through saved up credits in hope of getting new stuff just yet. Reports (and plenty of unhappy rants) from the Bioware forums show that the new kit probably hasn’t been seeded into packs yet, even if you have downloaded the DLC.

Another update will be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Mass Effect 3 later today which hopes to fix several bugs in the game, including the face import troubles many have been experiencing.
