Sony official update on PSN issues

The PSN is still down, with millions of gamers seemingly unable to connect, causing a a host of issues such as corrupted or broken downloaded games.

The following statement from Sony was issued to us when we contacted them.We have found out that some users are experiencing a network connection failure when signing on to PlayStation Network. “We are currently looking into the issue to identify the cause of this network connection failure and will update further information as necessary (on the Blog or official website.  We appreciate for your understanding and continued support.”

For a console that relies so heavily on an internet connection this is a major problem and the longer it takes to fix, the more disgruntled PS3 users there will be.

Oddly enough the issues only seems to affect certain models of the PS3 with the newer PS3 slim unaffected by the problems.
