OnLive lets you play IGF nominees for free

OnLive, the cloud gaming giant and sponsor of the upcoming 14th Independent Games Festival (IGF) is bringing a taste of the event into US and UK gamers’ homes with a two-week Indie Showcase.

Starting now and running until March 11, the Indie Showcase allows gamers to try a free 30-minute trial of a selection of games nominated for IGF awards and honourable mentions using the OnLive service. Players can access the games on offer through the OnLive Facebook page which lists all games available for the event.

“We love bringing innovative new game experiences to our users, and helping independent developers get their games out to a broad audience,” said Steve Perlman, Founder and CEO of OnLive. “The OnLive Indie Showcase lets gamers everywhere share their enthusiasm for these leading-edge games.”

Once played, players can ‘Like’ their favourite games on the OnLive Facebook page to show their support. OnLive will then announce the game with the most ‘Likes’, as well as the game that was played the most throughout the two-week event on March 12.

The 16 games in the Indie Showcase are: Atom Zombie Smasher, Be Good, Botanicula, Dear Esther, Dustforce, English Country Tune, Frozen Synapse, FTL, Lume, Nitronic Rush, Once Upon a Spacetime, POP, SpaceChem, To the Moon, Toren, and WAY.

From March 5 OnLive will also offer a 75 per cent discount on a selection of previously honoured IGF games.
