Okay, so that title is perhaps overly cynical (and perhaps a little mean) but hey, you can’t say it’s untrue. The man in question is Tony Hawk who has tweeted, as reported by Eurogamer, that he’s working with Activision on a new console game (and a mobile game too, as if anybody really cares) for release some time next year. Um, that’s about the whole story, really.
Surely the world’s most famous skateboarder, Tony Hawk (46) also says “I think fans of THPS series will be hyped”. Now it’s reasonable to presume that it’s some sort of skateboarding game, and that the THPS acronym stands for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. Mind you, he doesn’t actually say that it’s anything to do with skateboards. Perhaps everybody’s jumping to conclusions; after all, THPS could stand for anything. It could be The Harry Potter Stories, or The HP Sauce. There’s standard brown HP sauce, HP Sauce Reduced Salt, HP Fruity, HP Classic BBQ… the list goes on.
Actually, that becomes more likely the more you think about it. Paul Newman moved into salad dressing; why can’t Tony Hawk move into interactive condiment adventures? Yes, that’s it; former professional skateboarder (which is a thing apparently) Tony Hawk is planning to bring a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘HP meter’.
