New Assassin’s Creed III trailer shows off combat

Connor’s combat skills and astonishing weapon proficiency are shown off neatly in the latest Assassin’s Creed III trailer, which shows him jumping down from the tree tops and making red coats even redder.

Narrated by a very British voice that seems particularly keen to warn his men about the murderess assassin running around, the trailer details the weapons players will be using to slay things later this month. Wieldable weapons include muskets, bows, axes, rope darts, tomahawks and the series’ iconic hidden wrist blades.

The gory trailer showcases some amazing and fairly grizzly kill animations which appear to be two or three steps up from previous games in the series. They include fancy axe twirls, bayonet man kebabs and a rather intimate looking pistol dug into some poor chap’s temple.

Assassin’s Creed III looks fantastic and a complete departure from what we’ve seen so far. You can expect to be jumping through trees and ambushing unfortunate soldiers on the 31st October if you’re playing on Xbox 360 and PS3, or the 23rd November if you’re getting it for PC. Also, if you’re lucky enough to get Nintendo’s new console around launch, the WiiU version comes out on the 30th November.
