Assassin’s Creed III Hacked History Webgame Progresses

Do you like puzzles and conquering eye strain? If you do, good news! If you don’t, well, it’s still good news, just you probably won’t be participating in Ubisoft’s latest tease ahead of the launch of Assassin’s Creed III.

If you pop along to the ACIII website you can play their Hacked History Webgame. It depicts famous paintings that have an incredibly subtle addition made to them. It’s very similar to the spot the piece of Eden puzzles found throughout the series so far.

Each time a player successfully spots the anomaly in one of the three pictures a single pixel is unveiled on a mysterious fourth picture. The first picture has been cracked and the second is just over half-way done at the time of writing, so if you squint you can kind of try to guess at what the final unlocked picture is. You probably won’t be right, but it’s the fun guessing bit that counts. Ubisoft have said something special will happen when it does get unlocked.

The third and final puzzle picture gets unlocked in a couple of days, at which stage the second picture should have been well and truly decrypted. By then we should hopefully have something special to report. So there you go, this is a call to arms to make some news happen.

This mystery just serves to entice us further before the release of Assassin’s Creed III on Xbox 360 and PS3 at the end of the month.
