Looking forward to Command & Conquer 4 but want to know the roots of the series? If your answer is not a resounding ‘yes’, then please feel free to slap yourself hard across the face and pay attention.

To mark the March 19 release of the new game, EA has made Tiberian Sun and its expansion, Firestorm now available as freeware.

The games have been arranged for download on this web page along with the original freeware releases of C&C Tiberian Dawn and the original Red Alert, giving us a nice set of nostalgic options that are friendly on the pocket money.

If you haven’t played any of these classic titles then it is definitely worth a look, especially if you are trying to find games to run on an underpowered machine, such as a netbook or typewriter.

They are a tad bit ancient though, so you may want to read the installation instructions included with the download link here, to see how compatible they are with your operating system.
