Sega releases Sonic the Hedgehog 4 teaser

Hoping to rescue his rather tarnished reputation with gamers, a certain pointy blue rodent has cropped up in a teaser video released by Sega, showing a return to the formula that made him so popular, in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1.

The very brief teaser trailer shows Sonic’s successful outings throughout the 90s, before treating us to a full three seconds of the new 2D adventure given a lovely glossing of HD graphics.

It looks as if Sega are hoping for a similar success with Sonic the Hedgehog 4 that Nintendo found late last year with New Super Mario Bros Wii. It certainly couldn’t do any harm, especially after the hedgehog’s last few games went down worse than a curry made from masonry, leaving gamers and critics feeling let down.

No solid details of the release date have been uttered other than it will be available for download this summer on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Can this finally pull the rather bruised and battle scarred Sonic franchise out of the mud? We really hope so.
