The first trailer has been released for 3D Dot Game Heroes. An action RPG from the makers of PS3 exclusive Demon’s Souls (reviewed next week), this also seems to be exclusive to Sony’s format – but isn’t what you might expect.
The wonderful graphics, as you can see in the video above, use the unique idea of giving antiquated 8 bit pixel graphics a 2009 3D twist. It looks incredible, and is a breath of fresh air in the swamp of scantily clad female warriors and identikit ogres.
The plot involves something predictably silly, with a king of a 2D world using Technology That Goes Wrong. We’ll have to wait for the English version to arrive to be sure what it’s all about, which will be ages. We want this now!!!
That makes me feel all warm and nostalgic inside.
That looks a LOT like a Zelda game, and I mean like, A LOT.

My first thought was that the music -was- zelda, just remixed slightly. But yeah definately a Lego Zelda vibe going on here.
